Manufactured by Shrieve Chemical, Zerol oils are specially formulated refrigeration lubricants designed to serve a range of different systems using specific refrigerants. These include Zerol RFL (PAG) lubricants and Zerol Alkyl Benzene (AB) lubricants.

Zerol RFL (PAG) lubricants

Designed for R-134A and CO2 (R744) systems, the Zerol RFL series of PAG lubricants are designed to improve performance and protect compressors through premium lubrication. The RFL-X range is formulated for common applications like mobile air conditioning units where R-134A refrigerant is used, while RFL-EP is for high pressure conditions and CO2 refrigerant.

Approved by original equipment manufacturers (OEMs), RFL-X has a wide temperature range for refrigerant miscibility. It is formulated for compliance with the highest OEM standards and is chemically stable, has low moisture content and Total Acid Value (TAN) and protects against corrosive forces.

Proprietary capping technology used in RFL-EP optimises miscibility with R744 refrigerant while its carefully formulated additive package supplies compressor protection under extreme pressure (EP). Other operational benefits of this cutting-edge refrigeration oil include extended product service life for greater lubrication economy and lower maintenance requirements, as well as protection from corrosion in system designs where moisture ingress can be an issue.

Zerol Alkyl Benzene (AB) lubricants

Engineered for the latest refrigeration systems using ammonia and hydrocarbon refrigerants, Zerol AB lubricants are a global choice for a broad wide range of stationary air-conditioning and refrigeration applications, including both industrial and domestic markets where HCFC (R22) refrigerant is used.

In contrast to mineral oils sometimes used to lubricate systems using R22 refrigerant, the operational benefits of Zerol AB lubricants include its outstanding anti-foaming attributes, exceptionally low pour point and excellent thermal stability while working at high temperatures. Unlike natural oils it doesn’t tend to produce unwanted waxes, gums, residues or varnishes because of its synthetic composition. Their low pour point also offers maximised handling for colder regions in comparison to alternative lubricants compatible with R22-based compressors.

These qualities promote optimised lubrication levels, even when Zerol AB lubricants are deployed in compressors working under the most extreme conditions.
