Shrewsbury-based Morris Lubricants has donated £500 to help a local man go on his eighth mission to deliver aid for elderly and young vulnerable people in the war-torn country of Ukraine.
David Pryce of Wellington lives with cerebral palsy, but he found considerable freedom and independence by spending time with his friends riding a bike. He, therefore, has collected some 35 trikes, many of which have been specially adapted, to distribute to Ukrainian orphanages and disabled children as part of his Trikes for Ukraine II initiative. He has also collected 70 soft dog beds and 400 waterproof blankets for use in residential elderly homes and hospices.
With such a large volume of goods to move, David can no longer use his Sprinter van like on his previous missions. He instead needs a brand-new lorry for the two-week return journey. He plans to drive the lorry to the Ukrainian-Polish border, where the goods will be transferred onto vans. David will then travel with these to distribute the items to their recipients.
Andrew Goddard, the executive chairman of Morris Lubricants, said:
“Total respect to David for the wonderful work he is doing to support vulnerable young and elderly people in Ukraine. We are delighted that, as a company, we can contribute towards such a fantastic cause.”
Morris Lubricants is an industry-leading, fifth-generation, family-owned manufacturer of industrial products like slideway oil. David expressed his gratitude for the support from the company and said he is now hoping for a haulier or rental company to generously loan or rent him a lorry for the mission.
