Ühendkuningriigi energiahiiglane Shell allkirjastas hiljuti lepingu nafta- ja gaasiuuringute õiguste kohta Lääne-Kasahstani Žanaturmyse kvartalis.

The completed agreement includes signatures of Yerlan Akbarov, Deputy Energy Minister for the Kasahstan government, and Suzanne Coogan, Country Chair and Senior Vice President of Shell Kasahstan.

Dokument hõlmab seismilisi uuringuid, tehnilist hindamist ja andmete kogumist olemasolevate potentsiaalsete nafta- ja gaasivarude avastamiseks.

Žanaturmyse blokk asub Kasahstanis asuvas basseinis, mida peetakse riigi nafta ja gaasi jaoks kõige lootustandvamaks asukohaks. Kasahstani energeetikaministeeriumi sõnul võib see Kesk-Aasia riigis potentsiaalselt sisaldada märkimisväärset ruumi uurimisprojektide laiendamiseks.

Speaking for Shell, Coogan said that the deal reaffirms the oil and gas major’s continuing commitment to cooperating with Kasahstan. Adjacent to the recent agreement, Shell is also involved in developing the Kashagan oilfield through the North Caspian Project alongside Kasahstan’s state-funded oil business, KazMunayGas.

Beyond pursuing global oil and gas exploration projects, Shell also provides high-quality products and services for the lubrication industry. It recently took the title of the world’s leading lubricant manufacturer due to its cutting-edge solutions that include spindle oil, slideway oil, vacuum pump fluid, mould release oil and wire rope lubricant, to name but a few.

Uus leping Zhanaturmyse uurimiseks kehtib nüüd aastatel 2026–2032, et hallata projekti tehnilist keerukust ja ulatust, kuna suur kvartal on 1377 ruutkilomeetri suurune.
