German lubricants manufacturer Fuchs recently achieved an important original equipment manufacturer (OEM) approval.

The company’s cooling lubricant, “Ecocool Global 1000”, received “CSS 129/131 (CAT. 1)” status from Rolls-Royce.

The coveted qualification is only issued to lubricating coolant products that meet the most rigid requirements for compatibility, cleanliness, performance and stability.

Fuchs reported that the new qualification provides customers producing safety-critical components in industries such as semiconductor supply, aerospace and medical technology with maximum safety and dependability assurance.

A high-performance product, Ecocool Global 1000 is engineered to set industry standards and serve companies working internationally. It supplies exceptional cooling and lubricating performance and reduces tool costs and tool wear. A cutting-edge and robust emulsion, it provides cost-efficient and reliable operations that result in improved productivity.

The cutting fluid from Fuchs is universally suitable for all common types of machining operations and has exceptional compatibility with sensitive and cost-intensive materials. For example, Ecocool Global 1000 was developed especially for high-precision machine operations working with stainless steel, aluminium, titanium and nickel-based alloys.

Beyond its new approval from Rolls-Royce, in the aerospace technology sector, Ecocool Global 1000 also carries qualifications from major players like AIRBUS, Lockheed Martin, SAFRAN LANDESYSTEME, Safran Group and Pratt & Whitney. Other approvals have been awarded by GROB and DMG MORI for machine tool manufacturing applications, and the coolant is tested and evaluated for cytotoxicity and meets the EN ISO 10993 1-5-12 standard required in medical technology.

Along with quenching fluids for lubricating and cooling in metalworking operations, Fuchs’ extensive product portfolio also includes gas compressor oil, turbine oil and gas engine oil.
