TotalEnergies has purchased West Burton Energie , which owns and operates a gas-fired power station in Nottinghamshire, voor £ 450 miljoen.
De West Burton B-centrale werd in 2013 in gebruik genomen en is een van de meest geavanceerde energiecentrales in Groot-Brittannië. The acquisition of flexible power generation capacity complements the renewable power generation that TotalEnergies has in the UK by enabling it to mitigate the intermittency and supply a stable stream of electricity to its customers. TotalEnergies, which makes the Total lubricant and metalworking range, currently has 1.1 GW of renewable generation with a further 4.5 GW in the works. To support this, the company has estimated it needs 700 MW in flexible power generation from gas, so it plans to sell half of the assets it has recently required.
TotalEnergies’ president for power and gas, Stéphane Michel, expressed his delight at welcoming the team at West Burton B, adding:
"Deze overname draagt bij aan onze geïntegreerde strategie in het Verenigd Koninkrijk, die hernieuwbare en flexibele opwekkingscapaciteit combineert. Het vormt een aanvulling op ons 1,1 GW Seagreen offshore windpark en stelt ons in staat de ontwikkeling van onze Integrated Power-activiteiten op het gebied van energieopwekking, handel en marketing in deze markt te versnellen."
Hij voegde eraan toe dat de deal ook rechtstreeks zou bijdragen aan het behalen van de ROACE-doelstelling van het bedrijf van 12% in dit bedrijfsgebied.
