France-based TotalEnergies has announced that it will empower its workers with generative AI (artificial intelligence) technology following positive results from a pilot phase.
In August 2023, the company provided its employees with access to Bing Chat Enterprise, which is a secure chat solution that is based on data, combined with AI.
It launched its testing phase the following month involving 300 employees. The positive results from this in terms of improved user comfort and greater operational efficiency have led the company to decide to deploy Microsoft 365’s Copilot to its wider workforce.
TotalEnergies, which makes the Total coolant and lubricant range, will also supply its team with licenses to use the Microsoft Power Platform in order to help them to translate their ideas into digital applications on a “low code, no code” basis.
The company says this will equip them in solving everyday problems of varying complexity in a more timely and efficient manner.
TotalEnergies CEO Patrick Pouyanné said that the company was committed to supporting its workers in making the most of the digital transformation, adding:
“The new technologies of generative artificial intelligence and of ‘low code, no code’ will provide them with the simplification and autonomy they need to put their skills and creativity even further at the service of our company’s transition strategy.”
TotalEnergies also said it would be rolling out training for its employees to enable them to make the most of this new technology and the provided tools over the year.
